Signalment: Adult female rhesus macaque with a three month history of enlarged uterus on physical exam and increased bleeding during menstruation.
Gross Findings: |
|
Abdomen during surgery. |

|
In tact uterus. |
|
Open uterus with polyp (pale pink, pedunculated mass). |
|
Endometrial stromal cells and glands within myometrium (adenomyosis). |
|
Histopathology: |
|
Mass composed of endometrial stromal cells and endometrial glands (endometrial polyp). |
|
Small muscular arterioles (spiral endometrial arteries).
Morphologic Diagnosis: Endometriosis, endometrial polyp, and adenomyosis.
